Prestige Health Choice Awarded NCQA Interim Health Plan Accreditation
Prestige Health Choice, a Medicaid managed care plan serving 55 of Florida’s 67 counties and a joint venture between AmeriHealth Caritas and Florida Blue, announced that it has been awarded an interim health plan accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
Health plans with an interim accreditation have been determined by NCQA to have basic structure and processes in place to meet expectations for consumer protection and quality improvement. Organizations awarded this status undergo a full survey within the following 18 months to demonstrate they have executed those processes effectively, at which point they will be eligible to receive full accreditation.
“Prestige is committed to improving the quality of service and care to our members. Interim NCQA accreditation is evidence that this commitment is already generating positive results,” said Prestige President Dwight Chenette. “We are excited about our evolution and what the future holds for Prestige and its members.”
NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance. NCQA is committed to providing health care quality information for consumers, purchasers, health care providers and researchers.
NCQA Health Plan Accreditation is a nationally recognized evaluation that purchasers, regulators and consumers can use to assess health plans. NCQA HP Accreditation surveys include rigorous on-site and off-site evaluations of more than 60 standards and selected HEDIS measures. A team of physicians and health plan experts conducts accreditation surveys. A national oversight committee of physicians analyzes the team’s findings and assigns an accreditation level based on the performance level of each plan being evaluated to NCQA’s standards.
