Primary Care Provider (PCP)

For routine care, you should call your Primary Care Provider (PCP). Routine care is medical care that you get at a provider’s office. Your family members who are with AmeriHealth Caritas Florida can each pick a different PCP or the same PCP. It depends on what your family needs.

To get care with your PCP, you should have your AmeriHealth Caritas Florida Member ID card on hand.

  • Call your PCP. The phone number is on the back of your ID card.
  • Your provider's office will make an appointment for you to get care.
  •  If you are a new member, you need to see your PCP. You should do this in the first 90 days that you are a member of the plan.

Nights and weekends

Your PCP can help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you get sick after the PCP’s office is closed, call the office anyway. Someone will answer, and the PCP will call you back. Call as early in the day as possible. Try not to wait until late at night. If you have the problem during the day, you should call during the day. If you cannot reach the PCP, call the Nurse Call Line toll-free 1-855-398-5615.

Emergency and urgent Care

Urgent care is a medical condition that requires care within 48 hours. If you don’t get treatment for the condition in 2 days or less, it could become an emergency.
